Philippine rebels threaten
to attack U.S. troops
MANILA -- Armando Liwanag, chair of the
communist Party of the Philippines (CPP)
ordered its armed wing to ''inflict
severe casualities on the invading
U.S. forces,'' the Philippine Daily
Inquirer reported Sunday.
The order appeared in the New People's
Army (NPA) most recent publication of
Ang Bayan, which has been distributed in
areas of the northern Philippines. The NPA is
the military wing of the National Democratic
Front (NDF).
Maoist attack kills 46
police, five missing in Nepal
KATHMANDU -- Maoist rebels killed 46 police
officers in a raid on police units in Dang Thursday
night, officials said. Five others were still
missing. At least three civilians were killed
in the attack.
The rebels also reportedly suffered casualties
which they carried away on their vehicles
according to the Defence Ministry.
