China intensifies Sars efforts

BEIJING -- Beijing has strengthened its efforts against severe acute respiratory syndrome (Sars) including an inital sequencing of the virus.

China has been stepping up efforts at discovery, isolation and treatment of the disease.

N. Korea agrees to multilateral nuke talks

PYONGYANG -- North Korea said Sunday it would accept multilateral talks on its nuclear weapons.

Analysts said mediation by China, Pyongyang's strongest supporter, helped contribute to North Korea's change of stance which previously insisted on bilateral talks.
