Senate to probe Macapagal's husband
MANILA -- Veronica "Bing" Rodrigo
said Tuesday that she had learned second-hand
that Philippine President Gloria
Arroyo-Macapagal's husband, Mike, had received
bribes from a telecommunications firm.
The controversy surrounding the awarding
of franchises to two telecommunications
companies has placed the President in a difficult
situation. She had lead the struggle against
former president Joseph Estrada on grounds that
he had plundered the nation.
