Macapagal calls emergency meeting as fighting continues

MANILA -- Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo called for an emergency meeting to discuss fighting with Muslim rebels that has caused tens of thousands to flee.

Battles have continued despite a ceasefire order by Macapagal for the Muslim feast holiday celebrating the end of the Hajj pilgrimage.

India, Pakistan: Expel diplomats

NEW DELHI -- India and Pakistan Sunday mutually expelled each other's diplomats after they traded spying accusations.

Pakistan's Deputy High Commissioner Jaleel Abbas Jilani and four staff members were formally asked to leave India on Saturday. In May 2002, High Commissioner Ashraf Jehangir Qazi was also expelled by New Delhi.
