Kim declares subway station a disaster zone

SEOUL -- South Korean President Kim Dae-jung Wednesday declared the Taegu subway station a disaster area opening the way for special goverment relief.

The subway fire is believed to have killed at least 126 people and more than 307 people are still reported missing. Another 146 people were injured.

Two strong quakes rock the Philippines

MANILA -- Two strong earthquakes shook the central Philippines Saturday causing damage but so far no casualties, officials reported on Sunday.

A 5.5 earthquake occured at 1:47 p.m. on Saturday near Masbate about 230 miles east of Manila. The second quake measured 6.2 at 7:01 p.m. near the same area.
