Seven arrested over Taegu subway fire

SEOUL -- Police arrested seven rail officials Monday over the subway fire that killed at least 133 people in Taegu last Tuesday.

The subway officials are in custody at the Taegu Joongbu Police station and police say they are seeking to file negligence charges.

Kim declares subway station a disaster zone

SEOUL -- South Korean President Kim Dae-jung Wednesday declared the Taegu subway station a disaster area opening the way for special goverment relief.

The subway fire is believed to have killed at least 126 people and more than 307 people are still reported missing. Another 146 people were injured.
