Pyongyang blames South for naval battle

PYONGYANG -- North Korea Sunday blamed Seoul for the naval clash Saturday that killed four South Korean military personnel with one soldier still missing.

The exchange took place near Yonpyong Island in the Yellow Sea when two North Korean patrol boats exchanged fire with South Korean naval vessels.

Abdullah to succeed Mahathir

KUALA LUMPUR -- Malayasia's Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad will turn over the government to deputy Abdullah Badawi late next year after reaching an agreement with the ruling party.

Until the transfer of power, Abdullah will be acting Prime Minister, Finance Minister and ruling party president for periods when Mahathir is on leave.
