North Korea cancels ferry to
Japan
PYONGYANG -- North Korea Monday blasted Tokyo for
blocking one of its ships from anchoring
in Japan in a statement from the North
Korea's Red Cross.
The Mangyongbong-92 marine vessel was prevented
from using a Japanese port after some 1,800
Japanese police officers were dispatched to observe
and inspect the ship.
U.S. to retreat from Korean
border in two phases
SEOUL -- The United States will redeploy
its troops away from the Korean border
in two phases, officials said Thursday.
The 2nd Infantry Division in South Korea
will first relocate forces from small border
bases into Camp Casey in Doungducheon and
Camp Red Cloud in Uijongbu. Both bases are
closer to the capital Seoul.
