Al-Qaeda leader warns of more attacks

DUBAI -- Arabic TV networks aired messages from a top al-Qaeda leader Tuesday warning of further attacks on the United States.

The taped messages from Ayman al-Zawahiri shown on al-Arabiya and al-Jazeera networks sharply criticized U.S. President George W. Bush and the French ban on Islamic head scarves in schools.

Aung Sun Suu Kyi is Person of the Year

SACRAMENTO -- Aung Sun Suu Kyi is AsiaPacificUniverse.com's person of the year for 2003. The Nobel Prize laureate grabbed headlines throughout the year while in government detention.

Suu Kyi once again brought Myanmar into focus when she was arrested on May 30. She has spent over half of 2003 under house arrest.
