Gus Dur to resign if proven guilty: Defense Minister

JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Abdurrahman Wahid will resign if it is proven he violated the Constitution, Defense Minister Mahfud M.D. said Wednesday.

Presidential spokesman Wimar Witolar said, however, that "there has been no indication at all that the President intends to resign".

Army mutiny widens in Papua New Guinea

PORT MORESBY, Papua New Guinea -- The military revolt in Papua New Guinea continued to expand Monday as at least three army bases sided with the rebels.

The mutiny followed leaked government plans to cut the 4,000-strong defense force in half.
