Megawati begins Asia tour

JAKARTA -- Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri left Indonesia Sunday for Beijing to start a 12-day official Asian tour.

The Indonesian leader will visit Chinese leaders during her four-day stay in the country before traveling to Pyonyang on March 28. She will stay for two day before making a two-day visit to Seoul.

Tokyo takes steel issue to WTO

TOKYO -- Japan Wednesday filed a case with the Word Trade Organization (WTO) complaining about Washington's emergency tariffs on steel imports.

Washington imposed tariffs up to 20 percent on Wednesday to protect its own domestic industry. The European Union, South Korea and Switzerland have filed similar complaints against the U.S. with the WTO.
