China promises N. Korea
talks without Japan, S. Korea
WASHINGTON -- China may have assured North
Korea that nuclear talks would not include
Japan and South Korea, Kyoto News Agency
reported.
A recent Congressional Research Service Report
(CRS) stated that Beijing pressured Pyongyang
to return to negotiations and in return agreed
to North Korea's stance on Tokyo and Seoul.

deal on its nuclear weapons program
in exchange for major concessions
by the United States, U.S. officials
said Monday.
U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell
said Pyongyang proposed a plane that
would ''ultimately deal'' with their
nuclear capability, but only with major
steps taken by the U.S.
