Bush, Musharraf make joint statement

NEW YORK -- U.S. President George W. Bush Saturday announced US$1 billion in aid to Pakistan during a joint press conference with Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf.

Both Bush and Musharraf affirmed their nation's commitment against terrorism. The two appeared before the press after a United Nations session, the first in which Bush addressed the General Assembly.

CGI pledges $3.14 billion to Jakarta

JAKARTA -- The Consultative Group on Indonesia (CGI) pledged US$3.14 billion in loans and $586 in grants and other assistance, a spokesperson said Thursday.

The CGI consists of Indonesia's top 32 creditors including donor organizations like the Asian Development Bank and 21 donor nations.
