Pakistan faces protests, refugees

QUETTA, Pakistan -- Three people were killed and two injured after anti-U.S. protests near refugee camps in Pakistan Tuesday. The government also decided to open its northwestern border with Afghanistan to allow in more refugees fleeing from the U.S.-led airstrikes.

Most of the clashes between police and protesters were concentrated near Afghan refugee camps known as Taliban strongholds. It was in these camps that the ruling organization of Afghanistan was born.

Explosions, threats in Asia after U.S. attacks

MANILA -- Explosions rocked the southern Philippines while extremists threatened to lay siege on the U.S. embassy in Jakarta after U.S. attacks in Afghanistan Sunday.

Bombs exploded in three hotels in Zamboanga Monday morning at intervals about 15 minutes. No casualties were reported. Police suspect the Abu Sayyaf group who have been involved in a number of kidnappings and are still holding 18 hostages.
