Japan calls for cleaner, secure energy

OSAKA -- Japan Saturday issued a call for ''clean and affordable'' energy and energy cooperation and security in Asia during an international forum in Osaka.

Economy, Trade and Industry Minister Takeo Hiranuma called for a balance between meeting energy demands and caring for the environment at the International Energy Forum.

21 terrorist suspects arrested in Singapore

SINGAPORE -- Police arrested 21 people in Singapore for terrorist-related activities linked with the al-Qaeda network.

The Home Affairs Ministry said that 19 of those arrested belonged to the local Jemaah Islamiah group while the other two are connected with the Philippines' Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
