MEMORY

Such sweet memories I hold
of half Moon Bay
Adding to my treasures grove of others
that I hold deep within my heart.

The chilly sea breeze caresses my face
teasingly pulling my hair away from its holds
Ebbing waves, lapping at my toes
as I glide serenely along the shoreline.

Peals of laughter escape me
as my family and I roam across the beach.
Playing hide-and-seek
With the ever elusive crabs.

Overwhelmed by the beauty of coral at low tide
We wade for hours among the rocks
Picking mussels for dinner.
Until it was almost too late.

Already, the water level had gone up!
We were trapped!
Precariously we hopped from rock to rock
Often slipping in the pools of water getting deeper.

Fortunately, we made it back.
And looking back upon it, I laugh
Yet, I am also well reminded, and hope to remind you
Of the captivating, yet dangerous beauty of nature.
