Asthma relief is based on a few key principles.
1. Controlling allergic reaction since this is a primary cause of most asthma.
2. Treating symptoms of asthma:
* Open bronchioles that have been constricted.
* Relax spasmic tracheal region.
* Promote removal of phelgm with expectorants.
Some herbs and vitamins for controlling allergic reaction are: green tea, licorice, flavonoids (citrus, berries, etc.), vitamin C.
For opening bronchioles: green tea, ephreda (ma huang, careful with high blood pressure), eucalyptus (vapors are also helpful), ginger.
Calming trachea: thyme, rosemary, black cumin
Antispasmodic to relieve bronchial spasm: lobelia, licorice, anise, ginger, eucalyptus vapors, camphor.
Expectorant and anti-catarrh: thyme, lobelia, cinnamon, clove.
If you have dry congestion, inhale steam and eucalyptus oil, drink plenty of fluids. If excessive moist mucus,take anti-catarrh herbs, lessen fluid intake.
Try to identify whether certain foods are causing allergic reactions. Common culprits are dairy foods, especially when unfermented, pasteurized, stale, eggs, certain nuts.
