Sleepwalking occurs usually while dreaming while in deep rem sleep. Lots of people move around or even talk during deep sleep dreaming, and sleepwalking carries this a step further. Usually sleepwalking occurs when people are suffering from sleep deprivation or sleep debt because their consciousness is lowered.
It is a myth not to wake up a sleepwalker especially if they may be doing something dangerous like going outside or working with tools or appliances.
To avoid sleepwalking, always be conscious of your sleep patterns and make sure you are getting enough sleep at least 7 to 9 hours a night. This is especially important when traveling or any interruptions in your schedule.
