Dear President Fukishama,
My brother Robert (Bob)Eisenberg, a Lions District Governor in Maryland did not account for well over $114,000 of our mother's estate, of which he was power of attorney. Because of lack of funds I was compelled to settle out of court at a tremendous loss. He also excluded me from attending her unveiling, a very important ceremony in the Jewish faith. Yet I had provided the chief family support for her in her final years and at great personal sacrifice.
I am a photojournalist, and my humanistic photographs of people are finally in my '60's beginning to get the attention they merit. My work on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict has achieved world recognition. However, like many artists, I have remained poor and had counted upon this inheritance to finish up my project in Israel when our mother passed away. As a result of this- call it what you will - I was unable to do that and as a result am instead deeply in dept.
For years I have asked my brother to agree to have the financial records scrutinized by an objective third party. But he hasn't answered a single letter. I even suggested that whatever settlement would be made would be returned to his children by way of inheritance. What could be more fair? And he knows that when he was once in deep financial trouble I was ready to sell my house to help him out.
This has been a great tragedy not only for me but for him as well. What will he pass on to his children even in intangible things as a result.
