dogs were well domesticated before arrival with indians to NA contintent. genetics and archeological record confirm. They were descended from eurasian grey wolf, no NA wolf genetics in the mix. To this day people think my alsaskan village dogs are wolves- if you really new what a wolf looked like you would realize that there is more to it than fur and howling. Its doubtfull these exploreres did. Eskimo dogs especially do not look much like wolves, totally different build. Again, fur and howl are about it. Stephanie Little Wolf, Fairbanks Alaska
