Recipe

5 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups oatmeal
1/2 cup plain yoghurt
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup honey
2 tsps molasses
2 tsps cinnamon
1 tsp powdered ginger
1/3 tsp powdered cloves
3 tbsps wheat germ

Coating
1 egg
cinnamon
clove powder

I like to use organic ingredients.

Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix yoghurt, milk, honey and molasses in a separate bowl.

Beat egg together with a few dashes each of cinnamon and cloves.

Combine all ingredients. Mix and then knead into dough, add more flour or milk as needed to obtain right consistency. Should be slightly sticky.

Form dough into nugments and dip into egg mixture, then place on greased cookie pan.

Bake at low heat until cookies are hardened but not burnt on bottom. About 2.5 to 3 hours at 200 F. Allow cookies to dry out overnight, but don't place near open window. Store in covered container with a bit of cinnamon stick.
