First look on warning labels if poison is industrial product and follow instructions. Seek professional help as soon as possible. In the meantime:
Unless poison is acidic or alkali, you should generally induced vomiting using household hydrogen peroxide and water, mustard and water or salt on back of tongue. Sometimes just depressing the back of tongue can induce vomiting.
If poison is alkali, ingest acids like vinegar and fruit juice.
If the poison is acidic, use alkalizing substances like baking soda paste, milk of magnesia, pepto-bismo and antacids.
Next step is to ingest something to absorb and bind poison like clays (kaopectate) or activated charcoal. You can also use milk, egg whites, miso soup or vegetable oil. The latter is good for inhalation of petroleum products.
Be very careful in administering anyting by mouth if there is difficulty swallowing as in the presence of coma or seizures.
Give plenty of water to dilute and aid in elimination. Also give laxatives for elimination. Treat symptoms.
