Hola,
My 'father' and his uncles were Immigrants from Illocos Sur, and also Migrant Farm Laborers. I am Mestizo, me madre is a Latina American from Phoenix, Arizona.
Although I grew up in Livermore, and now live in Pleasanton, I was often in Stockton to visit my 'father' and also my Latina aunt. Many times I was taken to the Asparagus 'Camps' in the Stockton area, particularly to one by Byron --- where I spent alot of time 'pish pishing' and 'gigging frogs' while the old Pinoys worked the Asparagus fields or the 'Packing House.'
Of paticularly great interest are the trips to 'downtown' that my Uncle 'Ten Tay' (Vicente Garcia) took me after he was done with work. Man, I remember the Cigar Smoked Pool Halls and the 'Chop Suey' house, etc.. of that era.
Thanks,
Beau
