I grew up in Palisades Park since 1988. My parents opened up one of the first businesses in Palisades Park. Reading up on the involvement of fellow Asian-Americans makes me proud of the direction that we are heading. Growing up in Pal. Park, I've mostly seen Koreans only minding their own businesses, and not taking part of the community they are a part of. Perhaps it is because they have felt alienated. The number of Koreans, along with other Asians, have grown threw the years causing disputes among this town about how there are too many of us. How can there be too many of us? Does that mean there are too many people or to many of US? That right there shows that we are not looked at as fellow people of the community. Furthermore, that shows that there is hesitation to realize Asians are just like anyone else trying to make a living. As far as I know, America does not particularly have one race or ethnic culture. It is a melting pot of cultures. Yes, we ALL have ancestors in other countries. 'All' meaning everyone in the United states, with acceptions to Native Americans(whom have been robbed of their homes and communities). I can go on and on about the ignorance of racism, but then I'd have to publish a book and I don't have enough time for that tonite. But I will leave with saying that, Speaking our words of Action and our plans is only the beginning, finishing what is begun will be the only way anything will be resolved.
