I am NORM, Hawaiian Born, Samoan from Lai'e Hawaii.
I agree with the previous guestbook writer, what Mr. Lei-a-taua Ah-Ching wrote was not new. I mean (Kanaka maoli & Kanaka Mao'i & all Polynesians) we all knew about the Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium of Population Genetics and how that applies to the birth of unique Polynesian Genetics in 2002, that Mr. Lei-a-taua wrote to educate our Polynesian youth - we (the egotisticals & grandiose) already knew about it since 1970 right? Yeah right the data came out in 2002, 2003? We as Polynesians (Grandiose)all knew about the Genetic evidence published in 2002 by Oxford & Cambridge in Great Britain saying that the Polynesians genetics was purified in Samoa during the Polynesian Pause (1000 years) before dispersing into Marquesas 100AD, Tahiti 300AD, Hawaii 500-1000AD, Cooks 800AD & New Zealand 1000AD. We all knew about the archaeology, the linguistics, the Anthropology, the Biology, the Genetics, and the Morphologies that Mr. Leiataua AhChing wrote about with the latest evidence up to 2003. Oh yes, we knew that since our university days in 1980s, even though the data Mr. Lei-a-taua Ah-Ching wrote out came out in the 1990s. We all knew about the Royal Kamehameha lineage & Hawaii's King David Kalakaua's proclamation of the KAMEHAMEHA lineage came from SAMOA from Pilikaeae the Alii & Pa'ao the High Priest from Samoa written in 1888. Oh yeah we knew about that too, just that we changed the chief's name to Pilika'aiea and said he came from Tahiti sounds better to us the Tahiti-Hawaiians, forget the Hawaiian King David Kalakaua he wanna be da Samoan too, dat why he say Pili from Samoa, oh no he stupid, we the Tahitian-Hawaiian know way better. We teach oda story to our keikis (kids) cuz we from Tahiti too e. We all knew about those things, its just that we don't like teaching our kids about it because it takes away from Tahiti-Hawaii relations. Lets face it, Samoans can care less if King Kamehameha was Samoan stock or not, but a Hawaiian King in David La'amea Kalakaua proclaims the big island Kings lineages & Kamehameha family progenitors from Samoa via the first ruler PILIKAEAE. Yeah, we all knew that, look at the hula traditions of big island, their gigantic people, their culture, their bravery & war feats & their physical feats its Samoans from Upolu & Savai'i all the way. Samoans are not saying all Hawaiians came from Samoa, other ancient Hawaiians came from Tahiti, Marquesas, Samoa (Upolu & Savai'i) & other islands. Samoans knew that, yet we also know the pride of Samoans via its heritage & culture continued by its descendants, the Alii & Kahunas of big island Hawaii were the Alii & Kulafales / Foma'i A'iku (Lineage orators) of Samoa who ruled big island Hawaii, these customs & traditions were common in ancient Samoa. People of Tahiti & Marquesas, the Cooks all came from Samoa, they will tell you that. No more history revisions & no more exclusions by revision historians. All Polynesians know this, and the educated Polynesians should not dishonor that as they have dishonored the writings of King David Kalakaua in his only published book written in 1888. Notice the Revision Historians will never cite the writings of the most educated Hawaiian King who revived the Hawaiian culture. King Kalakaua is the Merrie Monarch, the only Hawaiian King to travel the world & with high education status. Imua Kamehameha & Imua Kalakaua. Samoa, mua'mua pea le Atua. Sorry previous poster, but Samoans of 2003 would be honored if any Polynesian who has achieved greatness as the ROCK has in America, would honor the Malietoa of Samoa. Malietoa would be honored if any Polynesian, not just Samoan would honor their family heritage in a big budget movie around the world. I should know I am a Malietoa descendant, a Samoan & Hawaiian born Polynesian in 2003. Samoans would be honored. And one more thing, the KAMEHAMEHA movie would benefit the Hawaii economy greatly I know I work in Hawaii whose economy sucks right now, but getting better. The Kamehameha movie would bring in tons of much needed money in our Hawaii economy. It wouldn't benefit the Samoan islands at all, and yes those who put in the work for the production will also benefit if the movie is a success. If not they lose money. But of course Educated Kanaka Maoli knew of these matters too. Come on, stick to the facts all Polynesians should supports this one rare & valuable Polynesian role model in Dwayne Johnson. Look he is Polynesian with Alii lineage from Samoa like the blood lineage of Kamehameha the Great, he is it, the Great One, and the educated $ hungry maolis moan & cry about $ for them to make the movie, this is stupid. Tom Cruise made a Japanese Samurai movie, made the Japan culture & people look awesome around the world. Mel Gibson made Braveheart and he was not Scottish. All these cultures are well exposed & admired & studies due to their world exposure by these big budget movies. The ROCK a proud Samoan wants to honor KAMEHAMEHA & Hawaii with the same world exposure, and these Hawaiian $ hungry cry babies moan & cry about it, saying we should make the movie. That sucks for an Educated Kanaka Maoli, what you want Hollywoods money to go to you. Dude get in line & apply for a job. Nothing is given for free, all things earned cry babies. I am both Kanaka Mao'i & Maoli, I am sad about the ethnocentricism by $ hungry educated maolis against a Mao'i (Samoan) trying to honor Kamehameha because the ROCK is a RARE Polynesian world famous figure and World role model (RARE for POLYNESIA) you envious educated Hawaiians seek to deprive him of the opportunity to take our Polynesian people into mainstream America, because hawaiianees should make the movie so they can have the money. You sad greedy people. Imua Kamehameha, Imua Kalakaua & Imua Le Atua. Please get over sad greedy selves. Imua kakou uma lava.
