sorry to burst your bubble tonga mo'oni, but the reason why archaeologists found what appears to be older pottery is that the samoans took their pottery with them while they were still migrating and settling islands. once in samoa, they made their pottery and began voyaging again in search of more islands. the end result, they settled tonga and in this case they felt no need to take their pottery back with them to samoa. like i made mention of elsewhere, each polynesian has a 'hawaiki' or homeland per se. the tongans themselves believe they came from samoa. that's how they got the name tonga. meaning south. same way as tokelauans are from samoa. tokelau means north and that's where it lies from samoa. same with tuvalu. science and history both concur that samoans inhabited the surrounding islands. then on to tahiti/marquesan islands. and from here to hawai'i and rapa nui(easter island). i know it's hard for a lot of people, tongans especially, to give in to such facts being that they have a deep regret against samoans. well, let's all learn to get along. we are one of the most interesting and most fascinating race of people.
