Fight the power, tell them to keep their hands off your credit!
In 2005, Democrats.com led the fight against the Debt Slavery bill, but the credit card companies bought the Republican majority in Congress and won.
Now the only decent consumer protection we have is in states that refuse to be bought. But now the credit card companies are trying to get the Republican Congress to nullify good state laws - starting with laws that allow consumers to order a 'credit freeze' to protect against devastating identity theft.
Now that the Republican Congress is afraid of getting clobbered in November, let's tell them to keep their hands off our credit!

Right now, a major tool to fight financial fraud is making sure consumers have access to a 'credit freeze'. Once activated by a consumer, a credit freeze prevents financial institutions from issuing any credit - including new credit cards - without the explicit permission of the consumer. This freeze stops most criminals' attempts at identity theft in their tracks. Dozens of states currently have laws that allow credit freezes, but Congress is planning to gut these existing protections through a federal law.

According to the Federal Trade Commission, nine million people each year are victims of identify theft, costing consumers and businesses more than $50 billion annually.
Despite this rampant problem, Congress and the big Credit Bureaus are teaming up to pass legislation that would revoke existing identity theft protection rights for tens of millions of Americans. If the Credit Bureaus succeed in convincing Congress to pass their plan, consumers will have almost no ability to stop credit fraud before it happens.
