A time for all things
September 20, 2001
Despite the tragic Sept. 11 attacks, the film Hardball starring
Keanu Reeves still managed to make over $10 million
in its box office-topping opening weekend. The movie
about Little League baseball is well-suited to the current
patriotic atmosphere.
Last year at the same time,
Reeves also topped the box office rankings in
The Watcher. Currently he is still training hard for the
martial arts sequences in The Matrix Reloaded
scheduled for release in 2003.
If you liked Matrix-style actions scenes, you may want to check out
The Musketeer.
The fight scenes were choreographed by Hong Kong
wire fu expert Hung Yan Yan.
Hung has worked for Hong Kong director
Tsui Hark and played the part of
Clubfoot in the series Once Upon a
Time in China. He also acted as a stunt
double for Jet Li in a few movies.
Sorry guys, but it looks like enchanting Ayumi Hamasaki
is about to tie the knot. She was spotted during a promotional
tour recently sporting what seemed to be an engagement ring.
It is now known that the source of this ornament is
Nagase Tomoya who recently returned from
Korea after shooting the movie Seoul.
Rumors have it that wedding bells will be ringing
on November 7th.
As of Sept. 13, Sen to Chihiro No
Kamikakushi overtook
Mononoke Hime to become
the top grossing anime film ever. The Hayao Miyazaki
blockbuster has grossed 19.354 billion yen and is closing
in on Titanic which earned 25.9 billion yen.
Japan's child actor Kazuki Enari
is a 12-year showbiz veteran although he
is only 16 years old. He stars in the
popular TV series Wataru Seken
wa Oni Bakari and his looks and
mannerisms hearken back to the
Showa Era of Japan. In fact, he is so Old Japan
in character that some rumors have it that he's
really 40-years-old and just acting like a kid.
Well that's it for now. Peace!
