For me I ended up haveing to shut down my original forum due to the fact that it was the same wwwboard used here and has NO security options.
My new software has a number of features that prevent both porblem posters, as well as message bombing spammers.
It prevents mesage bombing spammers by NOT allowing an IP number to post more than once every 30-60 seconds.
Message boards are usually 'Bombed' by a software program that posts automatically. By not allowing repeat posts from the same IP withing the alloted time, the Messsage bombing software is defeted, thus forcing the spammer to enter his spam by hand, a VERY time consuming and tedious process. This usually proves a powerful deterant for the mad bomber.
