If you are currently a full-time instructor or higher ranking assistant and you spend every day at school, consider the following.
Let's say, just to keep up with the mooos' doctrine of improving oneself and contributing in meaningful ways to family and community, that you decide you want to investigate “certain thing” outside the mooo. You can pick from this list or choose / create your own:
1. Additional college course of interest, to advance career or increase learning in particular subject area, or gain a skill always curious about. It may lead to a better paying job and you could bring more down.
2. Volunteer work at the local fire department, police department, community center or political organization of your choice. You will build strong bond with your town or city, meet new friends, maybe find new career opportunities and / or perhaps find a good part time gig where you can bring more down to handle course.
3. If already qualified, sign up to teach at the nearby community college or high school evening classes for adults. This way you give back to those seeking to earn while gaining valuable teaching and handling experience and maybe some additional cash you can put towards other things.
4. If have family, take them on an extended vacation to a nearby (thus not too expensive) locale where there are moderately priced activities such as metropolitan museums, pro sports or cultural centers such as university tours.
The costs are minuscule compared to the benefit your family will receive from a few days of experiencing some real heritage. No matter what suburbs you live in going to the city for few days will be something you and family will always remember. Sounds corny perhaps, but remember, you want to keep an open mind.
5. Set up a meeting with your local pastor or trusted church leader and discuss your family’s life plan. Talk about your children’s activities in grade/high school and your spousal communication. Seek out other church styles for a change of pace, it’s sometimes refreshing to see how other styles view rigid doctrines of beliefs.
After you’ve explored a few of these possibilities or hopefully have considered some ones of your own, talk it over with your higher belts. When you say you’d like to explore some different opportunities, they might say: “Its up to you, you can do what you want.”
But then you say, “thanks for understanding, I am looking forward to exploring these potentials, my family and I are looking forward to it.”
When they say, “why do you want to do that?” You say: “well, I’d like to see what (name your option) is about. I think it might be enjoyable, beneficial, helpful etc. it will help me satisfy my want to explore different things and it may help in appreciating all that mooo has to offer.
When they say: “whichever which way, you can do that but, you may miss opportunities if they come up here at mooo,” You can say, “well, thanks for discussing this with me, I appreciate your input into my godddaaam fuuuuucking personal life, you control freak, will see you when we get back.”
Get the idea?
