Thanks Ex-II, you are obviously correct.
I wonder if keeping him out of the business end was also useful to Kim to keep him from having any organizational power. That way he's even more dependent on Kim's validation of his rank than those who actually own schools are dependent on such validation, since they can truly leave anytime(assuming they and their coowners all agree), whereas Barfield has no school to generate revenue should he go, and loses all the seminar business one would assume he makes money off of.
