Sammy Wong is a Chugar Southern praying mantis master! He once had a school in the Chicagoland area in the mid eighties. I specify his name to identify the Chugar I study. The best known Chugar southern mantis in America are either represented by those of Gene Chen's lineage, and Sammy Wong's(both are common hakka praying mantis, but have differences in some of their ancestors.) Sammy Wong only teaches my instructors, and refuses to teach anyone else! (so I learn from his two disciples but not him directly). The Southern variety of praying mantis(Chugar-Chowgar-Jooklum)is different than the Northern version! It has the classic southern ideals!-close range striking.-feeling,reading,and controlling from the bridge.-concaving the chest.-phoenix eye fist.-ginger fist.-chisao.-sansao.-kicking no higher than the waist.-elbows drawn in.-ect.!! The net has a lot of info on the different branches of southern mantis! They are well worth a look see!!!!
Thanks!
