Hey RD, there's a little more history here. I have only read your first post, and am ignoring the 'no-minds' from OYD.

Kenpo is Kwon Bup in Korean.

Japanese Kenpo and it's Americanized version 'american' or 'chinese' kenpo bear no resemblance to Chuan Fa. The connection to CMA is distant and tenuos at best.

Most Korean 'martial sports' like TKD and TSD are gussied up shotokan. In fact, very few Korean arts, if any appear to have a Korean history dating to before the Japanese occupation. The exception are the sports of ssireum (wrestling, similar to Boke), Tae Kyon (a truly unique kicking game) and oner other that eludes me at the moment.

Korean martial artists, after being free of the Japanese occupation, got real fanciful with thier histories.

Despite this, there is a knee /headbutt/elbow art called Kwon Bup or fist art. I've met a couple guys - this was thier family art - and it is very different from TKD or lord help us OYD.

However, in summary, while the words have the same meanings, american kenpo is NOT chuan fa. It is it's own thing.
