Do we need beliefs? I'm not so sure. :) If you think you need beliefs, well that's cool. Thoughts can be interesting. Myself? Look at the ludicrous redherring handle I use. As a symbol, it works too well! When you realize beliefs, preferences, all discrimination (hell, most varieties of mental activity) are usually an option rather than as walls you must not go through, lines you must not cross, then you may begin to allow the martial artist (and surfer) to move freely. Then you can have a lot more fun!
