My first experience with bagua was in CMQ. Method taught involved toes pointed in with feet stepping over each other, extreme arch in the lower back done in a low position.
Any insight on how this might affect certain muscle groups or joints? Do you think the many hours practicing this might over-develop certain muscle groups causing body imbalances and possibly injuries? If so, any good ideas on how to counter the imbalances you may have dicerned?
I have searched many other bagua sources of many different lines and never found anything like I was taught in CMQ with respect to body position in what they called 'young time' bagua. It seems to me it may have been unhealthy. Possibly it could have been balanced by other stepping styles, but they offered no guidance in this area. Anyone know how bagua is taught today in OYD presently? Is it the same as it was back in the 70's and 80's?
