I believe one the most important responsibilities of an instructor is to maintain their roots as a student. Along with making sure the other students understand the importance of this life long undertaking.
The responsibilities that might be brought up on this thread start with the past, then into the present and then finally into the future.
Looking into the past, we find that we owe our instructors and our art an unending debt for what they have contributed to our lives. A sense of loyalty due to appreciation and respect for the knowledge and example the instructor sets.
Some students might payback the instructors by becoming one themselves to continue the spread of knowledge they received.
What causes a lack of respect and appreciation for an instructor?
It all boils down to the instructors lack of maintenance of his/her roots as a student.
I believe money and homelife are the biggest distractions the instructors have. As students these distractions were never allowed to interfere in ones progress.
Why would this principle change once one becomes an instructor? The nature of humans to become lazy could possibly be part of the answer. This is something that all students battle with every week. Once one forgets to be a student first, the battle is over and the appreciation and respect the instructor once had from the students is lost.
Continuous practice with FULL INTENT will give life direction and Instructors the discipline the students are looking for in their mentors.
Practice = A prosperous and fullfilling life.
