Actually, KFO is not owned or operated by any of us, but by kung fu qiqong magazine, and there are knowledgeable people on it. I am a member there, but I do not represent it in any way. However, I've found, because it has far more martial artists on it than any other forum, it is easier to get answers there, though you must occassionaly skip through the chaff.

On to your question. Back kicks aren't my forte, but here's some of what I do to work on them.

While Nick is right that practicing them is important, stretching is key with kicks. In the case of the back kick, the thigh must be well stretched, so do a good amount of thigh stretching to see if maybe the problem is a flexibility one. Past that, the regular back kick is a fairly simple one, so practice should suffice.

Some versions throw their hip into it, so they are not actually kicking straight back, but somewhat to the side(the kicking hip turns over at the last moment in this version).

Anyway, don't let the attitudes annoy you too much. This place had so much arguing for so long, people get into a reflexive state of confrontation.
