Do you have to commit evil to know evil? Does the little girl, let's call her Gretta, whos eyes were torn out in the Jewish Ghetto during the holocaust have to commit evil to know that she has had evil committed upon her? I'd think that one can know of something without ever having experienced it. Plus, God created the capacity for evil, he did not create the evil itself (I would think). He didn't put upon Satan to become vain and rise up against him, but he did give him the capapacity. This is all part of free will.
Incidentally, I think that the bible is a vehicle. The real place that God speaks to me is in my heart. The closer I get to him, by the way, the harder the enemy (and yeah, I'm referring to the devil here) tries to pull me away. It's amazing.
