I do not recall saying knowledge of the right direction came from one place. It sometimes comes from the smallest of experiences, you just need to be aware of what is happening around you and how you can positively affect the outcome of your experiences.
Then again this is were freewill can be your nemesis, by thinking that the way you see something is right when you could very well be favoring your own opinion and preferences.
