Agreed, crane hands at the end of the kick are low level foolishness. I generally hold that you shouldn't even bother unless you're hooking above the knee, and then you're better off throwing instead of chunging.
Of course, this assumes you're not stepping away from the attack, but stepping in at an angle. Disengaging is not high level either.
However, this move is higher level than their bogwa walk, even as just a chi kung, though they need to change their training mentality in order to even use it as that.
However, I would say that this application is acceptable, merely low level, and easily countered. I generally don't believe in dumbing down an art for the beginners, but instead think they should aspire to the art as it stands. Not that the moo did this, as their 'art' doesn't even exist in any cohesive sense. Essentially, moo technique is dumbed down martial arts at best, and moving around in a silly manner at worst. Educated martial artists seem almost universally aware of this, it's only the newbies that don't understand, and of course the true believers.
