Nick,
Follow through the next couple of threads I am going to present. I say this so that maybe you can understand why I presented myself the way I did in a previous post you seem to have gotten upset with.
I am not saying the Mooo folly is a cult or is not a cult. It's just a matter of perception. I will agree the Master and certain high ranking followers were criminals utilizing chosen techniques to control the students. These same techniques were also used back in Korea to a certain extent. All in all the leader and higher ranking individuals are most definetly criminals and that is what needs to be addressed.
I want to start with the original folly and that is the name Mr. Kim decided to utilize in presenting his style of knowledge.
Taekwondo:
The name Taekwondo was created in 1955, to unify a broad range of Korean hard-styles descended from Su Bak and Tae Kyun. They include: Tang Soo Do, Kong Soo Do, Su Bak Ki, and Tae Soo Do. The evolution of these styles was also influenced by Japanese and Chinese styles encountered during frequent wars between 1894-1945. The major schools which merged to form Taekwondo were:
Chang Mu Kwan
Chi Do Kwan
Chung Do Kwan
Ji Do Kwan
Moo Duk Kwan
Oh Do Kwan
Song Mu Kwan
Yun Mu Kwan
Strange enough they all seem very familiar with slight differences. All based on a particular type of moo-vement. I would imagine from the research I have been doing. The differences were made by individuals trying to sell uniqueness of their own particular way of moo-vement. To get the Grandmaster stature for individual prestige & $$$$$. You Think?
Either way the style that we are talking about which is Kims in his eyes is still based on some sort of traditional movement that really is strictly considered just a dance at least back in the 80s. & really how is a dance going to protect one in a real street fight especially when sparring was not even considered an option.
Basically from what I can see the style is nothing more than a system of strength enhancing movements with a poor sense of management on what is correct for the individual (students) body mechanics.
Everybody has certain natural abilities as well as restricting abilities according to ones own personal skeletal & musclular structures. I guess one can say poor instruction of the teachers in question. Hence blown knees ect...
This will lead me into my next thread that I will present later.
Tradition or Change:
Nick try and be silent for now and just follow my lead. If you can't I simply will just ignore your opinions and utilize what others will contribute to my approach on the subject.
This is my way of putting closure on this cult and con issue. Something that needs to be done for myself b4 I continue on my path of awareness. I have to empty my cup and my mind on this subject.
