Samoans look like Tongans and that is logical since the two peoples live close to one another. There is also some shared features with peoples of Fijian descent. A lot of intermixing took place between these folks and Samoans.

However, I am not sure that Samoa was the location that Hawaiians left to colonize the Hawaiian islands. The oral myths of the Hawaiians specify that the ancestors came from Kahiki, which could include Samoans but also places like Polapola, or Borabora, Tahiti. Tahiti = Kahiki.

Now Samoans are bigger than Hawaiians but smaller than some Tahitian groups. I think the people on Marquesas are the biggest overall but maybe not any more due to the constant admixture with smaller people from China, France, and other countries. Samoans have made a name for themselves in the world of sports that's for sure!
