this is what i think--polynesia's too confuse! the languages are alike because the ocean talks meaning they have spirits that speaks to the ancients--like the word Langi(tonga), Lagi(samoa) or Lani(hawai'i)--they hear a story of a creator so they all some how hear it and each one of these polynesia islands may created their creator and one by one they all called him Lagi, Langi or Lani...but hawaiian and samoan war--i don't think the samoan were really navigators but truly warriors and plus they stick to their own waters and short distance for war--hawaiian only share ancients stories of their roots and no one else's!
