Samoans and Hawaiians ancient enemies? HOW ? Impossible ? Too far away 2500 miles apart 5 hours aeroplane ride or months at sea to get there - Ancient enemies? Are you nuts ? Should we check the I Ching or AhChing for that ? Completely illogical ? Too far apart.
Educated minds know that Hawaiians are Samoans, they came from SAMOA, SAVAI'I -- ( Samoa --> Marquesas & Tahiti ---> Hawaii --> & then to New Zealand. Polynesians of Savai'i were ethnically mixed-blooded Samoans, Tongans & Fijians in SAMOA - They spoke each others languages... etc. Great Kings of Tonga married Samoan women & had mixed SAMOANS...etc..and lived with Samoans in SAMOA ( UPOLU & SAVAI'I ). Samoans ( tanata mao'i or tanata maoli ) got to Hawaii by way of Marquesas(Nu'uhiva) & Tahiti (Havai'i ).
Polynesian culture developed in SAMOA ( ALii Matais - 2 types = matai ALII - Alii - Head of extended families & communities - blood inheritors of land & mana ) & his talking chiefs the Matai TULAFALE ( talking chief ). The culture & language developed in SAMOA and these early POLYNESIANs migrated to Marquesas & Tahiti (Aliis & chiefs from SAMOA culture ) and then to Hawaii ( Alii systems ), then to AOTEAROA ( New Zealand ) Maoris ( In Samoan, Maoli or Tanata Maoli means original peoples ) ...... Peter Maleko AhChing Leiataua .
Ancient Polynesians were not named Samoans, Hawaiians, Tongans, Tahitians - they were Tanata Maolis(Polynesians) - Hawaiians, Tahitians, Marquesans have thick SAMOAN blood in their veins that over time have been separated by great distances & ocean. Samoans, Tongans & Fijians have a history of wars in Western Polynesia because they lived close to each other within 100s miles apart - but the Samoa islands and Hawaii are 2500 miles apart.
To get to Hawaii - Samoans on their ancient war & travel canoes needed to get to Marquesas & Tahiti first in order to travel another 1000 miles to Hawaii. By time they got there - (a very difficult journey - weeks at sea - and still had the energy to fight wars with Hawaiians - 2500 miles away - Come on SAMOANS were not SUPER BEINGS nor had ancient airplanes ). This is completely absurd and ridiculous.
Tongans, Fijians & Samoan at war this is true because they lived next to each other, but wars of SAMOA & HAWAII as ancient enemies is absurd & ridiculous. Look at the MAP and read your HISTORY of ANCIENT POLYNESIANS.
A rival MOVIE PRODUCER from the North Shore Movie Productions Company started saying propaganda against the ROCK as too SAMOAN to be KING KAMEHAMEHA in a movie, to stir up controversy between Hawaiians & Samoans ( Saying we were ancient enemies - no facts in history ) Then rest of proud radical hawaiians started quoting his propaganda saying ' Hawaiians and Samoans were ancient enemies.' Then their kids believe this falsehood!!! When & How? Facts please!!! This is stupid, look at the MAP & read about ancient polynesians.
Too SAMOAN or is it TOO POLYNESIAN. Hawaii had wars within its ruling Alii chiefs, these chiefs were descendants of Samoan Alii chiefs from Marquesas & Tahiti. Tahiti chiefs have lineage to Savai'i chiefs & they are the ancestors of KING KAMEHAMEHA or Tamameamea ( KAMAMEAMEA ) born on UPOLU point of Big Island of HAWAII next to KONA (Tonga).
UPOLU is the name of the sister ISLAND of SAVAI'I - these sister islands make up the SAMOA independent NATION, not American Samoa ( United States ). SAMOA ( Upolu & Savai'i Isles ) was under German, British, & New Zealand protection in history, but now a NATION in the league of Nations - SAMOA.
EDUCATION is KEY - HELE off the PAKALOLO please and read your books on Ancient Polynesians - in Archaeology & Anthropology (FACTUAL SCIENCE) and not MYTHOLOGY or Legends (Made up Stuffs).
In Hawaii, it is hard to tell a real Hawaiian ( Full or 1/2 blooded is a rare find ) from a Samoan they look the same, but Samoans are a little bigger - Both Polynesians. Samoans, however, are more feared due to negative stereotypes. Samoans are known as the HAPPY PEOPLE of POLYNESIA - Polynesian Cultural Center. Laie, Hawaii ( North Shore ).
