Many of you have been involved in protesting Adam Carolla's show, where he decided to air a racist attack on the Asian American Excellence Awards, complete with mocking 'ching chong' noises and other stereotypical depictions. Thanks to OCA, KAC, JACL, and MANAA's organized campaign to get advertisers to pull $1 million in ads from the show, CBS saw the light and realized it needed to take corrective actions.

Long story short, one of those corrective actions was to tape a one hour show featuring a broad-ranging discussion about the history of Asian Americans in the U.S., the discrimination and stereotypes we have faced, and the power that coalition-based advocacy can have on changing entrenched attitudes. Besides myself, Stewart Kwoh (Asian Pacific American Legal Center) and Philip Chung (Lodestone Theater) are also guests on this show.

I have just heard that our CBS taped one-hour show in response to the Adam Carolla show will air in Los Angeles' KLSX X 97.1 FM at 6:00 am PST (9:00 am EST) on Sunday Morning, May 13th. This is the same station that carries Adam Carolla's show. OK, I know it's Mother's Day and it's 6:00 am PST, but it would be great if Asian Pacific Americans would listen in to the show and respond.

Throughout the country, you can listen to the streaming audio by going to the website: http://971freefm.com/

If you like what you hear, e-mail KLSX and tell them you appreciate this kind of programming and they need to do more of it (not just in response to protests and in May APA Heritage Month). You can e-mail them at: http://971freefm.com/pages/1537.php.

The show will also air in San Diego, Phoenix, San Francisco, Portland, Las Vegas, and other West and Southwest cities on the next Sunday, May 21, on your local CBS talk radio station.

Kudos to Clara Chiu, Courtney Wong, Stacey Toda of OCA-GLA for demanding respect for APA's from Carolla and CBS!
