Statistically martial arts students (of all types combined) injure themselves significantly more in training than the average person who does not do martial arts. This includes injuries from criminal attacks. So unless you have a particular reason, such as improved health, philosophical questions or just like the activity, what's the point? Are you going to fight with somebody? Good activity as a lifestyle, some basic sport type martial arts and realistic handgun training and other personal defense technology would give much more meaningful results for personal defense. For example, given the typical attributes of a person of your age, sex and perceived tempermeant, I could spend 20 years teaching you to defend yourself against say, 2 KCs (or similar skill level fighter) and it would still be a toss up as to whether you would come out ok. On the other hand, I could spend about 2 years teaching you to be able to defend yourself against 20 KCs or similar skill level fighters) and could be resonably certain that you could gun them down consistently and retain your weapon and health. So if you are worried about violent thugs attacking you there are more reliable means available to yourself. However the mental training and basic self defense techniques learned at chungmoo are great! And as an activity for increasing the use and enjoyment of your life, your instructors are better guides than these anonymous posters who really haven't proven that they are good at anything but posting negative stuff on the internet.
