'However the mental training and basic self defense techniques learned at chungmoo are great!'
Then why did Forrest Troutner, the man recognized by his peers for creating the model for the moo schools, go mad? In fact, the moo claims a rather large number of their ex instructors went mad. Why is it, then, that other schools, who are supposedly not as good at mental training, have no such problem with insanity in their ranks?
And Sue, is it not questionable that the above poster claims to know my ability, yet has no knowledge of my style? Doesn't this, in and of itself, tell you something about the mindset you are being taught?
The fact is, I received my black belt a decade before you were even testing for yours, and have continued my practice and improved to a point the moo could not teach me. Unless you do the same and, at the same time, I completely quit practice, you will not be able to out perform me in a fight situation. The above poster is setting up a rediculous scenario. He cannot teach you to be a more experienced fighter than you are, and to defend yourself, you must fight.
Again, if you like what you are doing, fine, but the vast majority of the fifth degree black belts and up that have come from your system have found what I am saying to be true. And most of them left.
As for injuries in martial arts, this is true, but the nature of injuries from violent attacks is far more dangerous.
As for the gun bit, this is true, but beside the point. You are being told that you will be able to defend yourself from any situation at first degree. This is false. Anyone selling that sort of crazy needs to be looked at with suspicion.
