Scientology is not supposed to be a religion. Yet it is.
As for jewish persecution versus scientology's problems in europe, there is no comparison. The jews were persecuted based on prejudice, and in most of europe government sponsored persecution ended long ago, whereas the scientologists were driven out due to conduct the host country deemed illegal.
As for early US settlers, are you suggesting that modern europe and pre-new world Europe are similar countries? If so, your argument is moot, very few of those governments and nations resemble their older predecessors.
I believe you'll find britain, one of the most moderate of european nations, banned scientology in the not too distant past, because of the conduct of L. Ron Hubbard and his crew, not as an act of persecution.
