Samoans were Tongans of old Polynesia. Samoans settled Tonga (South) as Samoans but they fornicated with the neighboring Melanesians (Fiji & Solomons) and created the still today current Tongan (Melanesian-Tonga) bloodline. At one time, royalty of Tonga married royalty of Samoa (Accepted in Culture) and they had Tonga-Samoa royal children. The royal families of these children were well taken care of by Samoan families because it was there culture to do so for Samoan royal families mixed with royal Tongans. That was accepted back then. They lived together in peace as one family before, until the cruelty of one Tongan royal leader led to their demise & death in Samoa (Tongan death & destruction from Samoa). Ua malie toa, ua malie tau!) That is the truth about old Tongans & Old Samoa, there were no enslavements just royal families intermixing. Until cruelty by a royalty led to his death & his family's demise.
Not Eastern American Samoa just Samoa, today's independent Nation. There was no enslavement of Samoans, its a hoax or blown up egotistical stories without any factual support, that now has been blown up even worse by hateful people who are caveman asking for their own death with prejudice. There were no slaves in old Polynesia, just battles and wars to claim lands & chiefly titles. Samoan land names or fanua's are found all over Polynesia by the voyaging children of Upolu & Savaii (Samoa) & Ka'u (Manu'a) all over Polynesia. Polynesia was the playground of the Samoan families from Savaii & Upolu, found in Tahiti (Havaii & Uporu 300AD) & Hawaii (Upolu, Hawaii 500AD) all Polynesians who came from Upolu & Savaii of Samoa 2000-500BC.
