In six elbows, there is no distinction between offense and defense. Many of the attacks deflect incoming attacks a la hsing yi, and no defense is not offensive.

However, I know that other systems work on different principles, and it never hurts to understand more applications.

By the way, I saw you mention the stop hit. Aren't those fun? I like using them against the bicep on incoming hooks.
